Talking Therapy

The counselling process is a collaborative journey. It is a commitment from both participants, the counsellor and the client, to work together safely, within an honest and compassionate union.  It takes courage to embark on this journey, so 'well done' for getting this far.

In my experience as a client, the dis-ease and discomfort I felt became so difficult to live with that it overshadowed any anxiety that might have been present regarding speaking to a counsellor.  Learning to understand myself, what has shaped me and how that influences me, was one of the wisest choices I have ever made.  Through continuous personal and professional development I live life in closer alignment with my values and with positive intention. And now, having personal therapy is part of my own self-care routine, that I absolutely wouldn't be without.

Perhaps you want to discover more about yourself, you may have past trauma, or want to experience richer relationships, maybe you are seeking to develop self esteem and more confidence, or manage anxiety or depression.  Whatever you bring to counselling, it is a safe place to do so, and as an ethically minded therapist if I feel your concerns are beyond my skill set I will offer you guidence to seek out alternative support. I am a registered member of the BACP and guided by the ethical framework of good practice, therefore engage in continuous professional development and supervision to support and enhance my skills, and develop my working practice.

I offer a variety of counselling modalities drawn from several theoretical influences.  Being trained as an Integrative Counsellor means I can individualise therapy for each person, supporting a journey into wellness that will nurture your spirit and help you overcome personal challenges.

My approach is based on person-centered therapy, offering a safe and supportive environment for us to collaboratively explore and gain an understanding of what issues you find are causing disruption to your life. Through more directive and solution-focused approaches, we then agree upon solutions and strategies to support and enhance your well-being as you move forward.

I operate concessionary rates for counselling and talking therapies, so those on lower incomes or students in training may still be able to attend therapy. The range is £40 to £50 per session, depending on availability.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be?
